Baltimore native Matt Halpern, formerly with the Washington D.C. based group Animals as Leaders, is currently in the progressive metal band Periphery. 

Periphery self-titled debut album reached #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Matt is also involved in BANDHAPPY- a very impressive (On-Line) lesson program as well a touring Clinician for drum companies:
